The goal of our Parent Academy is to help parents understand the Special Education process and to provide families with knowledge regarding the Special Education Code and Section 504 laws . Through the Parent Academy our goal is to equip parents and guardians with the information they need to better understand all of the nuances related to special education and what can be provided within the school setting. 

This service includes various educational sessions that will provide parents with:

•  Detailed explanations of special education terminology and the special education continuum of services

• A description of the difference between an IEP and a 504 Accommodation Plan

• A break down of each component of an IEP and/or a 504 Accommodation Plan

• An examination of Special Education Law and Section 504 Laws

• An overview of special education and 504 time lines and procedures

• Insight into modifications and accommodations 

• An understanding of the differences between school-based and outside related services

The goal of our Parent Coaching and Consultative Services are to help parents navigate the Special Education process with a specific focus on their child's individual needs. We are here to provide parents with knowledge about the Special Education Code and Section 504 laws as a means to ensure their child is being provided with a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE). Through our Parent Coaching and Consultative Services our goal is to equip parents and guardians with the information they need to go into an IEP meeting confidently and be able to ask the questions necessary to ensure that their child receives the appropriate programming, school-based supports and services they require to access the curriculum and make meaningful progress in all facets of their education. 

Through this service parents will be able to ask the consultants and coaches any and all questions they may have related to their child's educational experience including but not limited to information within IEP,  evaluations, related services,  modifications/accommodations, and special education programming /placement. In response to these questions our team will provide parents and guardians with detailed answers to further strengthen their knowledge and understanding of all things related to Special Education and Section 504.
